Tabitha had a gun. She’d had it on her since awakening, but felt it best not to reveal that until absolutely necessary for fear that it might raise suspicion and ultimately violence. It was now necessary.

Tabitha’s firearm was no ordinary weapon. She had crafted it herself years ago when she began taking expeditions into the wilds surrounding her observatory. The rifle would have been too large for her to carry long distances, so she’d broken it down from its whole, separating it into interconnecting parts that could clasp to the inside of her coat for easy access and quick assembly should the need arise. When the man-creature seized Alfred, Tabitha already had the stock and receiver locked into place. She’d begun her work as Chela was scaling the chairs, sensing that this situation would turn problematic. When that thing threw the asylum doors open with Alfred in tow, she only needed to attach the barrel.

Of the three not being abducted by a sizable beast, Tabitha was the first out the doors and into the night air. It wasn’t so much that she cared about Alfred’s well-being. Tabitha did not know Alfred, or any of the people she woke up with, but they had all awoken together and she suspected there was a reason for that. Ever the scientific mind, Tabitha didn’t want to rule anything out without rigorous research – she had an hypothesis and she was going to pursue it. Until she could piece together exactly how their paths were entwined, until she could pin any of them as friend or foe, she would do whatever possible to keep them together and preferably alive.
